Academie 23 : new avatar :

My email academie23@free.fr is being suppressed. Thanks for not using it anymore. The site Academie 23 at http://www.geocities.com/academie23/ is not on line anymore as I have stopped my enterprise, but it is going to be remade in another shape and frame, more related to Interzone.

This month I have received several mails from Zoners in US wanting to go and live somewhere else., 2 are interested in Europe: one by Ireland, and the other one by France.

At the scale of the group, Zoners out of US who like the idea can get in touch to provide information and help to get organized for their coming (papers, formalities to work, rent a flat, etc.), or put something up at the artistic level in the frame of the Zone.

So the site Academie 23 can be a place dedicated to this aim, as well as the yahoo group Academie 23 which exists and which has not been used yet.

If some are interested, we can meet for a chat and talk about it.

Two years ago, we made a project about putting up a place at the scale of the group, and I rented an hotel here, coming back from Belgium. The time I stayed there a number of Zoners came, but the place was so old and falling apart that I had to leave after four months, so the project did not go further.
But we can make it in renting a cheaper place as a flat or a house. The prices of the rents are rather affordable here : I am renting a 2 floors house for 380 euros, but flats for one person are cheaper, up to 300 euros.

Parallelly, in the French villages, the government is stopping a number of public services, so the villages are becoming deserted. Here the people are looking for putting up another organization, and are glad to see new comers. As the place is a touristic area, they are used to foreigners, who come for holidays.

I 'll keep you posted about this. Any idea and feed-back welcome.

One thing we can do about money :

We met for the first time in 1982 in Brion Gysin's flat : Brion had a music band and Ramuntcho was the guitarist (see pics of concerts on the front page of Interzone Academy) and we have kept in touch since.

A trip from Paris to Juvisy is the context of this 52 min experimental video. The visual landscape becomes a set of misunderstanding : An accident occurs during the travel and generates plots that catch the spectators till the end of the path, or the "unachieved" trip.

Dreamachine : the rule of 3 :

In the pages of the dreamachine plan at http://www.interpc.fr/mapage/westernlands/dreamachine.html and Dreamachine class http://www.inter-zone.org/dmclass.html I have added explainations to convert 78 rpm plans into 45 rpm plan with the rule of 3.

 Recordings :

For the cut-ups afficionados, and all Zoners interested in recordings, I have experimented for Ramuntcho's interview a digital voice recorder "Elsay" which works like a digital camera. I bought at Leclerc (French supermarket) for 25 euros. It allows to record during 5 hours and works without any tape : the files can be heard on the recorder, then are transfered on the computer, transformed in wav files which can be improved with a sound program (I use Sound Forge). Much more effective than the previous dictaphone with small tapes. The recorded files on the recorder are in .LP files, very small, which can be saved as such on floppy disks. Then once in wav, they are much bigger and are recorded on CD ande tapes as well.

One can find more expensive ones and with more possibilities, but if you can't afford them, this cheap one is very satisfying, small and light (10 x 3x 1,5 cms). Used with rechargeable batteries, its use does not cost anything.
